Yay in Everyday

I have had this post on my mind for months now and I am finally getting time to sit down and type it out.

For those of you who don’t know me I am a very anxious, type A person [I talk about when it really started it here].  I like plans and lists and don’t enjoy curve balls being thrown my way. I have gotten really good at planning for the unexpected but you know how the saying goes sometimes you have plans and God laughs.

Parenting is one big old curve ball  It can be very stressful for personality types like mine. I was having a hard time with this and through a lot of trial and error I found that somethings really helped reduce my stress like working out, to-do lists, and most importantly finding the “Yay in Everyday”.

Positive thinking is so important for my mental health and when I was having tough days I would mentally list what I loved that day.  Small things and big things really added up and it really helps me remember that the tough moments are very fleeting.

Parenting is such hard work and can be so exhausting.  You have to have self care to be a good parent and mentally be on your A game all the time.  Giving yourself time to reflect on positive things each day is definitely a key task I need to do everyday to keep my mental health game strong.

  1. It sounds like we have a lot in common- I also tend towards being Type A and anxious. I love this philosophy and am going to start working on finding my #yayineveryday too!

    1. Us “type a’s” tend to be really hard on ourselves because we don’t do enough or don’t do it the “perfect” way that it is so good mentally to stop and realize the good stuff! ❤️ so happy to hear you will join me! Hope to see your pics over on insta!

  2. Such a great idea! I have suffered with my emotional health since becoming a mom as well and this would be such a good practical strategy to combat anxiety and depression in the day to day. Thanks for sharing 🙂

  3. This is such an important thing to keep in mind because there’s so much everyday in life and we should appreciate it all so much more. Sometimes it’s hard but thanks for the write up and I’ll try to find more yay everyday too 😊
